Introduction

Learn how to integrate a 1&1 IONOS Shared Storage with a Cloud Server running Windows Server 2012. This tutorial will explain how to find the Shared Storage login information you will need, and how to map the Shared Storage volume as a network drive on the server.

Requirements

  • A Cloud Server with Windows Server 2012
  • A Shared Storage created in the Cloud Panel, with the server assigned.

For step-by-step instructions on setting up a Shared Storage in the Cloud Panel, see the article Creating a Shared Storage. To assign a server to the Shared Storage, see the article Assigning a Shared Storage to a Server.

Get the Shared Storage CIFS Path, User ID, and Password

Log in to the Cloud Panel.

  • Go to Infrastructure > Shared Storage and select the Shared Storage.

Note:

If you change your Shared Storage password, the Kerberos key will also be changed. In order to use Shared Storage after changing the password, you must install the new Kerberos key on any servers (such as Linux) which use Kerberos authentication to access the Shared Storage.

Map the Network Drive

Log in to the server with Remote Desktop and open Windows Explorer.
