Introduction

For any server with Plesk, applications like Joomla should always be installed and managed through the Plesk interface. Follow the instructions in this tutorial to learn how to install and run Joomla on a Plesk server.

Requirements

  • A server with Plesk (any operating system)

This tutorial uses the Power User view. You can change the Plesk view by clicking Change View at the bottom of the column on the left.

Install Joomla

Go to Applications.

Joomla is available as a Featured Application. Click to install Joomla.

Joomla will download. This process can take several minutes.

Select your domain name from the drop-down menu, then click Install.

This will install Joomla on your domain.

Manage Joomla

After installing Joomla, you can manage the installation from the Applications page.

Select the Joomla installation for your domain.

This will take you to the main landing page for the domain's Joomla installation.

Click Public access entry points > Site to view the website.

For security reasons, we recommend that you turn on Automatic Updates.

Click Change Settings to change the settings for the Joomla installation.

This will allow you to change the administrative password, database user name, and/or database user password. After you have made the changes, click OK.
