Create Managed WordPress Image Galleries

The NextGen Gallery can present photos in an interactive picture gallery on your Managed WordPress website. The plugin automatically optimizes the size of your images, fades in a watermark if necessary and offers you a variety of layouts, slideshows and lightbox effects for your gallery.

NextGEN Gallery is already activated for many website types. You can activate this plugin for your website manually in the WordPress dashboard under Plugins.

As soon as you have activated the NextGen Gallery plugin, Gallery will appear in the WordPress menu. Here you can create new galleries, manage existing galleries and merge galleries into albums. In addition, you can manage tags, customize how galleries and slideshows are displayed, as well as countless other options.

Explore Themes with Galleries

You can insert galleries directly into your posts and choose from a wide variety of themes. Themes like Argent, Dispatch or Lens offer you a several different ways to display your galleries.

Create and Manage Galleries

In the WordPress administrative area, click the Add Gallery/Images submenu and select individual images, or a ZIP file with multiple photos, to appear in your gallery.

Choose the Right Resolution for Your Images

Most images that you want to use for your website may have too high a resolution in their original size, which can lead to long loading times. You can have them automatically resized when you import them into a gallery. NextGEN Gallery reduces your images to 800×600 pixels by default.

To be retina-ready (optimal display on high-resolution displays), we recommend that you increase the resolution of the images for your galleries under Gallery > Other Options > Image Options.

With 2048×2048 pixel resolution, you'll get optimal results even on high-resolution Retina Macs and Windows PCs.
