# How to export contacts from Outlook

Exporting contacts in Microsoft Outlook is crucial for safeguarding your address book and ensuring a seamless transition when upgrading to a new version. **Step 1:** As a user of Outlook 2013 onwards, you must first open the **File** tab. You’ll find this tab on the left in the upper menu bar.
