Setting Up Microsoft Exchange 2013 in Outlook 2016

These instructions are only valid for domains that you have set up at IONOS.

Microsoft Outlook versions 2016 and later no longer support manually setting up Exchange mailboxes. We recommend that you set up the Microsoft Exchange 2013 account using the autodiscover feature as described in the Outlook 2016/2019 Configuration guide. If the setup fails, set up the account using the Outlook Configurator.

Notes
  • If you order a domain from a third-party provider, make sure that an Autodiscover subdomain with a CNAME value of adsredir.ionos.info.

    Checking Your Domain's Autodiscover Settings

  • If you move the domain or change the DNS settings, it may take a while for the DNS settings to update.

  • If you previously configured a Microsoft Exchange 2013 account in Outlook, you will need to set up a separate Outlook profile for the new Microsoft Exchange 2013 account. Additionally, enable the Outlook profile prompt. This will appear each time you start Microsoft Outlook so you can select the Exchange account you want to open.

  • If you are using a version of Outlook that is provided as part of Office 365 and you see the Office 365 login window when you set up the Microsoft Exchange 2013 account, follow the instructions in the following article:
