How to Use MySQL Databases

To ensure a fast performance and a smooth flow of your MySQL queries, we recommend that you observe the following points:

  • Utilization of the database servers
Do not use the MySQL databases for so-called high-load applications (e.g. chat systems, log evaluations, addclicks, banner exchange and similar). When programming, please make sure that there is not too much load on the database servers, for example by using indexes wherever possible. In this way, you contribute to an overall higher performance.
  • Exceeding the database quota
In our current tariffs you have 2 Gigabyte storage space per database available. If you exceed this limit, write access to this MySQL database is automatically locked until the limit is undershot again. The update of the quota is delayed during the night after deletion. Therefore, you may not be able to describe the database until the following day after a database cleanup, despite sufficient quota.
  • Security restrictions
Our MySQL servers are only directly accessible via your presence and not via ODBC or similar from your local computer. This serves to protect your data from external attacks.
  • Other Limits
When planning the application, please note that you can establish a maximum of 18 parallel connections to a database.
