Creating a Hosting Plan in Plesk Obsidian (First Login in Plesk Obsidian)

To host a domain on a server with Plesk Obsidian, you need a hosting plan, which defines the hosting resources and services available. To set up a hosting plan in Plesk Obsidian, follow the steps below.

Requirements
  • You have already ordered a domain in your IONOS account.

  • The desired domain has already been set up.

  • You connected the domain with the IP address of your server.

  • You have not logged in to Plesk yet.

  • You enabled port 8443 in the firewall policy assigned to the server.

  • You have logged in to the Cloud Panel.

  • You are in the Infrastructure > Servers section.

First Time Logging in to Plesk

  • Select the desired server.

  • Scroll down to the Plesk section.

  • Make a note of the login details.

  • Under Admin Area, click the URL that is shown.

    The message This is not a secure connection (or something similar) will appear.

  • Click Advanced.

  • Click Go to [YOUR IP ADDRESS] (unsecure) or Accept the risk and continue. This message depends on the browser you are using.

  • Log in to Plesk as an administrator.

    The Welcome to Plesk page appears.

  • Click Skip introduction.

  • Read and accept the license terms.

  • Click OK.

Creating a Hosting Plan

  • In the left navigation bar, click Service Plans.

  • In the Hosting Plans tab, click Add a Plan.

  • In the Resources tab, specify the hosting resources that will be provisioned with a plan.

  • In the Permissions tab, specify the provisioned services and permissions.

  • In the Hosting Parameters tab, specify the parameters of the hosting service to be deployed with the plan.

  • In the PHP Settings tab, specify the PHP settings for individual subscriptions.

Note

The PHP settings are of particular importance as they affect the functioning of a large part of the web applications.

  • In the Web Server tab, enter the Apache web server settings for the hosting plan. If Apache is running with nginx as the front-end server, also enter the required nginx settings.

  • In the Mail tab, set the parameters of the email service.

  • In the DNS tab, enter the parameters of the DNS service.

  • In the Logs & Statistics tab, specify how to store the statistics and logs for the plan's subscriptions.

  • In the Applications tab, select the applications to be provided with the plan.

  • In the Additional Services tab, select the services to include in the plan in addition to the web hosting, DNS, and email services.

  • Click OK.

The hosting plan is now set up.
