Setting Up a Domain for Your Windows Server Using Plesk (First Login to Plesk)

To use a domain for web pages, email, and other functions, set it up using Plesk after you have successfully registered it. To set up a domain registered with IONOS on your Server with Plesk:

Requirements
  • You have already set up the desired domain at IONOS.

  • You have enabled port 8443 in the firewall policy assigned to your Server.

  • You have not logged in to Plesk yet.

First Login

You can find the access data for Plesk in Cloud Panel in the Infrastructure > Server area. Activate the desired server and then scroll to the Plesk menu item. There you will see the link to the admin area of Plesk as well as the username and the initial password for the administrator account.

To log in to Plesk as an administrator:

  • In the address bar of your browser, enter the IP address and server port 8443 in the following format:

    https://123.456.78.90:8443

    The message This is not a secure connection will appear.

  • Click Advanced.

  • If you are using Chrome, click Next to YOUR IP ADDRESS (insecure). If you are using Mozilla Firefox, click Accept risk and continue.

  • Log in to Plesk as an administrator.

  • Read and accept the license terms.

Install Domain Connect

When you install a IONOS image with Plesk, Domain Connect is active by default. To check if Domain Connect is installed, do the following:

  • In the navigation bar on the left, click My Extensions.

  • Open the My Extensions tab and check if Domain Connect is displayed.


To install Domain Connect in Plesk for Windows, do the following:

  • In the Extensions Catalog tab, type Domain Connect in the search box.

  • Select Domain Connect.

  • Click Get it free.

The Domain Connect extension will be installed.

Connect Domain to the Static IP Address of the Server

  • Click Domains in the navigation bar on the left.

  • Click Add Domain.

  • In the Registered Domain Name field, enter the desired domain name.

  • In the Username field, type the desired user name.

  • In the Password field, type the password and repeat it.

  • Optional: Check the Enable Git Support option.

  • To add the domain, click OK.

    The domain will be set up.

  • Click the domain name.

  • Click DNS Settings.

    The following message will be displayed:

    Do you want to connect [DOMAINNAME] to Plesk automatically? Connect using Domain Connect.

    Example:

    Do you want to connect example.com to Plesk automatically? Connect using Domain Connect.

  • To connect the domain to the static IP address of Server click the Connect using Domain Connect link.

    The Connect your IONOS Domain to Web Hosting on Plesk window will open.

  • Click Login.

  • Log in to IONOS.

  • Click Connect.

  • Click Close.

Your domain is now connected to Plesk Obsidian.
