Installing a Server from an Image

For Cloud Servers and Dedicated Servers (Managed in the Cloud Panel)

If you use an image to create a new server, then the original server is cloned by it. The credentials for the newly installed server are identical to those of the original server.

You are in the Infrastructure > Servers section of the Cloud Panel.

  • Click Create.

  • Select the desired server type.

  • Enter the desired server name.

  • In the Images section, click My Images.

Please Note

If you create an image of a server on which Plesk Obsidian is installed and use this image in Cloud Panel to restore another server, then you need to change the Plesk activation code on the newly created server in Plesk license settings. You can find instructions here:

Changing the Plesk Activation Code (Plesk Obsidian)

  • Select an image.

  • If you select an image with the Microsoft Windows operating system, you must read and accept the Microsoft End User License Terms.

  • Select the desired data center.

  • To be able to create backups from this server, in the Backup section, enable the Back up your server and protect the server data option. Images compatible with Backup Agent already have this option enabled. Then select the desired predefined protection plan. If you have not yet set up a backup package or want to switch to a larger package, then select the desired backup package. The backup agent is automatically installed as part of the server creation process.

Backups are managed through the Backup Console. You can access it in the Backup > Backup Package section.

  • In the More Settings section, click View.

  • Optional: If you are installing a Linux distribution, you can select one or more public keys in the SSH Key field to use public key authentication. Alternatively, you can import a new SSH key.

  • If you are installing a Linux distribution: To customize your server after creation, in the Cloud-Init User Data field, add the desired post-creation script, and then select the script type.

  • (Applies only to Cloud Servers): In the Processor and Core Distribution area, select the desired processor and core distribution.

  • (Applies only to Cloud Servers): In the Firewall Policy list, select a firewall policy.

  • (Applies only to Cloud Servers): In the Public IP list, specify whether to assign an existing or a new public IP to the server.

  • (Applies only to Cloud Servers): In the Private Network field, select whether to create a private network. Alternatively, you can assign the server to an existing private network.

  • Click Create.

The server is created. This process may take a few minutes.
