For Virtual Private Server (VPS), Cloud Server, and Dedicated Servers (Managed in the Cloud Panel) with Windows Server 2019 or Windows Server 2022

To modify your server's network configuration to use an additional IPv6 address, you must first configure the IPv4 address as a static IP address. Then, you can add the IPv6 address as an additional IP address. To do so, follow the steps below.

Requirements
  • You have assigned your server in the Cloud Panel an additional, public IP address.

  • You have assigned an IPv6 address to the server and have taken note of the address.

  • You have logged in to the server as an administrator.

Adding the IPv6 Address

  • Open the Control Panel.

  • Click Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings.

  • Right-click on the network adapter.

  • Click Properties.

  • Double-click Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP / IPv6).

  • Enable the Use the following IPv6 address option.

  • In the IPv6 Address field, type the IPv6 address assigned to the server.

  • Click in the Subnet prefix length field. The subnet prefix length is then entered automatically.

Note

You may receive a warning that the gateway is in a different subnet. You can ignore this warning. In this case, simply confirm with YES that the configuration is to be saved.

Note

If the server is not reachable via either the main IP address or the additional public IP address after the changeover, you can log in to the server using the KVM console to check the configuration.

Add more IPv6 addresses

  • Click Advanced.

  • Click Add.

  • In the IPv6 Address field, type the IPv6 address that is assigned to the server.

  • Click in the Subnet prefix length field. The subnet prefix length is then entered automatically.

  • Click Add.

  • Confirm the still open dialogs with OK.

The change is applied. This may cause a brief interruption of the Remote Desktop connection.
