1-Click Installation of Joomla!
Joomla! is an award-winning content management system (CMS) that enables the creation of websites and powerful online applications.
You can set up Joomla! at IONOS quickly and free of charge using a 1-click installation through the App Center.
Advantages of 1-click installation:

- No need to upload and download installation packages
- You will receive the latest Joomla! version
Afterwards, you can customize your installation according to your needs and extend it with plugins and themes without any restrictions.
Please Note
The 1-click installation is only available for installing websites based on Joomla! 4. If you want to create a website based on Joomla! 3, you can download the installation package separately from https://downloads.joomla.org/latest and install it manually in your webspace.
Requirements
For the 1-click installation of Joomla! you need the following:
- A Linux hosting package or a Managed Dedicated Server
- An available domain or subdomain
- An available MySQL/MariaDB database
Installing Joomla!
Open the App Center by clicking the button below. If you have multiple web hosting plans, select the plan where you want to install Joomla!
Log In Now and Open the App CenterOpen the App Center Now
Alternatively, you can open the App Center after logging in to your IONOS account by going to Websites & Shops > Create new website or store > Popular CMS in our App Center.


- Click the Joomla! tile.
A page with more information about Joomla! is displayed. - Click Install.
You will be redirected to the installation wizard, and the "Terms of Use" installation page will be displayed. - Read and accept the Terms of Use for IONOS Click & Build.
- Click Continue.
You will be brought to the General installation tab. - Fill in the fields for the installation settings and application settings.

Name | Enter the name under which you want to manage the Joomla! installation in your IONOS account. This entry is for your own internal identification only. |
Domain | Here you select the domain or subdomain to be connected with your website. Your website can then be accessed later by entering the domain in the browser. |

Language | Here you can set the language that will be used for the Joomla! administration interface. |
Administrator username | Here you set the user (login name) for administrative access to the administration interface. You can choose this name freely. A corresponding user account will then be created automatically during the installation. |
Administrator password | Enter the desired login password for the administrative user here. |
Administrator email | Enter the email address through which you can receive Joomla system messages and, for example, have your administrative login password reset in case you forget it later. |
Content/Update Channel |
Simply ignore these settings of the wizard as they have no functional use since Joomla! 4 was released. After you have completed the installation, you will find an option to install demo content in the administration section of Joomla! You can find the settings for the update channel in the administration area under System > Update Sources > Options. If you have no particular reason to change the update source, we recommend that you leave it at the default setting. |
- Click Continue.
You will be redirected to the Database installation tab. - Fill in the fields for creating the database.

Description | Enter here the description that you want to be displayed later in your database overview. It is for your own information only. |
Password/Confirm password | Here you set the database password. |
Set table prefix | Here you can adjust the table prefix given by the system. However, if you have no particular reason to change it, we recommend that you use the default prefix. |
- Click Continue.
You will be redirected to the Webspace installation tab. - You now have the option to specify the desired installation directory. Unless you have a particular reason to do otherwise, we recommend that you use the directory suggested by the system.
- Click Continue.
You will be redirected to the Summary installation tab. You will now see a summary of the installation settings you have chosen. If you want to change a setting again, click Back. - To start the installation, click Install.
Joomla! will now be installed in your webspace. This may take a few minutes.
Once the installation is complete, a corresponding tile will appear in your IONOS account in the Websites & Stores section that you can use to manage your installation.
Logging in to the Administration Interface
After you have completed the installation, you can log in to the administration section (also called backend). Here you can access the basic settings of your website, define the structure and appearance, manage users, plugins, and much more.
- Open a new browser tab.
- In the address bar, type the admin URL of your website and press Enter. The login page for the administration area of your website is displayed.
You can get the admin URL of your website by appending /administrator to the end of your web address. Example: https://example.com/administrator


- Log in with the username and password you set during the installation.
After successfully logging in, you will be redirected to the Joomla! dashboard. Here you will see an overview of the most important information and settings.


You can also access the login page from the administration section of your Joomla! installation in your IONOS account by clicking Websites & Stores > Select website (if necessary) > Edit website.
