Creating, formatting and translating product descriptions with artificial intelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) helps you to create customized e-commerce product texts in the stores at MyWebsite Now and MyWebsite Creator. This article explains how to do this.

General information

AI support integrated into your store management generates appealing, customized product descriptions for you. With a click, the AI analyzes key product details - including the first product photo, name, category (as well as marketplace category), subtitle, visible attributes, weight and dimensions, and your store name - to create compelling text that attracts customers.

You can further refine the description by specifying features and benefits you want to emphasize in the product description, or give the AI specific instructions on tone of voice, style, etc. Note: If your product already has a description, it will not be used when generating a new one.

Creating the product description

  • In your store administration, go to Product catalog > Products.
  • Open an existing product or create a new one.
  • Click the AI icon above the product description field and select Generate description with AI.
    Optional: Enter product features and benefits that you want to highlight.
    Optional: Click Special instructions to add specific requirements, such as defining your target audience or excluding the product category from the description.
  • Click Generate.
    Optional: To refine the result, make changes to features, benefits or instructions and then click Regenerate.
  • Click Apply if you are satisfied with the description.
  • Click Discard if you do not want to use the changes.
  • Click on Save.

Formatting the product description

You can use the integrated AI tool in your store administration to format product descriptions for better readability. The AI automatically highlights meaningful parts of the text in bold and adds paragraphs and bullet points. You can also add instructions to request custom formatting. Note: The content of the text remains the same after using the AI tool. Only new formatting will be applied unless you add instructions to request text changes.

  • In your store administration, go to Product catalog > Products.
  • Open an existing product or create a new one.
  • Click the AI icon above the product description field and select Format description with AI.
    Optional: Enter special instructions, such as requesting short paragraphs.
  • Click Format description.
    Optional: To refine the result, add special requirements and then click Reformat description.
  • Click Apply if you are satisfied with the description.
  • Click Discard if you do not want to use the changes.
  • Click on Save.

Translating product names and descriptions

You can use the integrated AI tool in your Ecwid administration to automatically translate product names and descriptions into all your additional store languages.

  • In your store administration, go to Products > Products.
  • Open an existing product or create a new one.
  • Make sure that the Name and Description fields contain the text you want to translate.
  • Scroll down to the Translations section.
  • Click on the AI icon above the product description field in the additional language and select Add translations with AI.
  • Select what you want to translate (name, description or both) and the languages you want to translate into.
  • Click on Translate.
    Optional: To refine the result, click on Retranslate.
  • Click Apply if you are satisfied with the translation.
  • Click Discard if you do not want to use the changes.
  • Click on Save.

Creating SEO descriptions for products

SEO descriptions (or meta tags) provide information about your products for search engines. These texts should be concise and succinct so that they are not cut off and attract attention in the search results. By default, the product name and description are used as meta tags. The AI-powered tool integrated into your store administration allows you to generate SEO content for your products.

  • In your Ecwid administration, go to Product catalog > Products.
  • Open an existing product or create a new one.
  • Switch to the SEO tab.
  • Click on the AI icon above the Page title and meta description field and select Generate content with AI.
    Optional: Enter product features and benefits that you want to highlight.
    Optional: Click on Special instructions to add specific requirements, such as using a specific tone.
  • Click Generate description.
    Optional: To refine the result, click Regenerate description.
  • Click Apply if you are satisfied with the description.
  • Click Discard description if you do not want to use the changes.
  • Click on Save.
