IONOS launches a new US location for its cloud platform in the IONOS-owned data center in Lenexa, Kansas

IONOS today announced the launch of the third U.S. location for its cloud platform in the IONOS-owned data center in Lenexa, Kansas.

IONOS, a leading digitalization partner for small and midsize businesses, today announced the launch of a new U.S. location for its cloud platform in the IONOS-owned data center in Lenexa, Kansas. The Lenexa Data Center is the third U.S. data center supporting the investment, success, and expansion of the IONOS Cloud platform in the United States. 

The Lenexa Data Center has been and will continue to be used for IONOS hosting products and is now equipped to effectively host IONOS Cloud products, including Compute Engine with vCPU or dedicated core instances; Cloud Cubes enterprise-grade virtual private servers; block storage for high-performance storage; and DBaaS, all running on a new performance-improved network. The Lenexa Data Center is equipped for sustainability with a new photovoltaic (PV) installation with over 1,000 PV panels rated for 400 kilowatts; at peak sunlight, this will cover over 20% of the site load.

“IONOS is pleased to offer more choices to our cloud customers and support the expansion of our business in the United States with the Lenexa Data Center, our third data center in the United States,” said IONOS CTO Markus Noga. “IONOS is also pleased to improve the sustainability of the Lenexa Data Center with more than 1,000 new photovoltaic panels installed on its roof.”

The Lenexa Data Center offers state-of-the-art security, service-level agreements (SLAs), certifications, network, electrical supply and cooling capabilities: 

  • Physical security: Dual factor access control system; site and building-wide cameras; three fire protection zones; early fire detection; and a fire extinguishing system
  • Standards and SLAs: Tier III classification and 99.99% availability
  • Certifications: ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 50001
  • Network: Redundant diverse fiber entry points/lines to form a fiber ring; IONOS-operated dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) systems; and redundant 100 GB internet uplinks
  • Electrical supply: Redundant grid connection, N+1 transformers and generators; IONOS-owned PV system on entire roof (400 kW); DC-wide N+1 electrical redundancy (transformers, generators, UPS, distributions); and platform fed by 2N USV redundancy 
  • Cooling: N+1 cooling redundancy (CRAHs, pipes, pumps, chillers); cold aisle containments for efficient air handling; and supply temperature 75 F (24 C)
