Valid for AI Receptionist (plans from August 31, 2026). (Momentum AI)

With a test call, you can call your assistant directly from your browser and hear how it behaves with your current settings – for example, when greeting you, handling the conversation, or transferring the call. This allows you to check the results of your configuration before putting the assistant into operation. This feature is available in the AI Receptionist product. The following steps show you how to initiate a test call.

Note

Test calls are free of charge and do not count towards your allowance. For plans with a limited allowance, they are not deducted from your included calls. You can therefore call your assistant as often as you like until you get the right result.

Requirement

  • You have a headset (or a microphone and speakers) connected to your computer.

Start a test call

  • Log in to your IONOS account.
  • Click on Menu > AI Frontdesk in the title bar.
  • In the contract overview, click on Manage in the tile for the contract you want.
  • Click on the green Test Call button in the top right-hand corner.
  • The Test Call window will open and the call will start automatically. It will display your assistant’s phone number, which is currently being dialed, and the status of the call – initially Connecting…, then Connected during the call, with the call duration displayed.
  • Speak to the assistant as you would a caller. For example, check whether the greeting is correct, whether it answers your questions correctly and whether call forwarding works as intended.
  • End the call using the red Hang Up button – or wait until the assistant hangs up. The status changes to Call ended, and the red button is replaced by Call Again for another test call.
  • Close the window using the × in the top right-hand corner.

Note

If you have changed any settings but haven’t saved them yet, the green button will say Save & Call. Clicking on it saves your changes and initiates the test call in one step. This is important because your assistant always uses the most recently saved configuration during a call.

Enable the microphone in the browser

During the first test call, your browser will ask whether the website is allowed to access your microphone. Without this permission, the test call will not go through.

  • Google Chrome / Microsoft Edge: A window will appear below the address bar. Click Allow.
  • Mozilla Firefox: A message will appear below the address bar. Click on Allow.

If you have accidentally blocked access, you can grant permission retrospectively in your browser’s settings – depending on the browser, this will be in the “Privacy” or "Website permissions" section.

Tips for conducting effective test calls

  • Simulate various conversation scenarios (e.g. appointment enquiries, complaints or general queries) to thoroughly test your assistant’s behavior.
  • Test again after every change. This way, you can hear right away how an adjusted setting affects the conversation.
