IONOS offers you the ability to perform the following domain actions for multiple domains at once:
Setting up domain forwarding
- Editing name servers
- Resetting name servers to the IONOS default settings
- Enabling a transfer lock
- Disabling a transfer lock
- Enabling private registration
- Disabling private registration
To perform any of the actions listed above, log in to your IONOS account and click on the Domains & SSL tile. Then, follow the steps listed below regarding each domain action.
Please Note
The domain actions Enable transfer lock, Disable transfer lock, Enable private registration, and Disable private registration cannot be performed simultaneously for multiple top-level domains ending in .de, .eu and .at.
Setting Up Domain Forwarding
Domain forwarding is one of the possible ways to use your Internet address. It forwards the visitors of your website to any other Internet address. To set up domain forwarding for multiple domains, do the following:
Select the domains you want to use by checking the boxes to their left.
Click Select Action.
Click Set up domain forwarding.
For Type, select Your domain or Arbitrary URL.
Specify a forwarding destination.
Your domain: Clicking in this field opens a list of domains from your contract. Then, select one of your domains.
Arbitrary URL: Enter any URL in the following form: https://example.comDecide on a forwarding type.
HTTP redirect: For visitors to your domain, the address of the target domain is displayed in the address bar of the Internet browser. This type of forwarding is preferable for good search engine results.
Frame redirect: For visitors to your domain, the address originally entered remains in the address line of the Internet browser while the target URL is loaded in the browser window.Click Set Up Domain Forwarding.
Forwarding is now set up for the selected domains.

Editing Name Servers
IONOS allows you to specify your own name servers for each domain instead of the IONOS name servers. This allows you to delegate DNS management for your domains to another provider or host your own name servers. To specify the name servers for multiple domains, do the following:
Select the domains you want to modify by checking the boxes to their left.
Click Select Action.
Click Edit Name server.
Enter the desired name servers in the Name Server 1 and Name Server 2 fields. Optionally, enter two more external name servers in the Name Server 3 and Name Server 4 fields.
Click Apply Changes.

Resetting Name Servers to the IONOS Default Settings
To reset the specified name servers for multiple domains to the IONOS default settings, do the following:
Select the desired domains by checking the boxes to the left of the domain names.
Click Select Action.
Click Reset name servers to the IONOS default settings.
Click Reset Name servers.
The name servers for the selected domains will now be reset to the IONOS default settings.
Enabling the Transfer Lock
For your security, domains with generic domain extensions (.com, .net, .org...) are protected by IONOS by default by a transfer lock. Usually, you do not need to activate the transfer lock yourself. However, if you manually unlocked your domains, this option may be useful.
To activate a transfer lock for multiple domains, proceed as follows:
Select the desired domains by checking the boxes to the left of the domain names.
Click Select Action.
Click Enable transfer lock.
The transfer lock is now enabled for the selected domains. This may take a few minutes in some cases.
Disabling Transfer Locks
To disable a transfer lock for for multiple domains, do the following:
Select the desired domains by checking the boxes to the left of the domain names.
Click Select Action.
Click Disable Transfer Lock.
The transfer lock is now disabled for the selected domains.
Enabling Private Registration
With private registration, you replace your personal contact details with anonymous data and remain unrecognizable as a domain owner. Private registration is possible for all New Top-Level Domains (nTLD) as well as for .net, .name, .mobi, .org, .com, .biz, .info, .me, .tv and .ws. Private registration is free for IONOS customers.
Whoever registers a domain is obligated as the domain owner to list their personal details such as name, address, email address, and telephone number in what is known as the WHOIS database. The entry in this database is made automatically after the owner has entered their data with their domain provider.
The WHOIS database is publicly accessible and can be viewed by anyone.
To activate private registration for multiple domains, proceed as follows:
Select the desired domains by checking the boxes to the left of the domain names.
Click Select Action.
Click Enable Private Registration.
Private registration is now enabled for the selected domains.
Disabling Private Registration
Deactivating private registration is necessary, for example, before transferring a domain to another registrar. Otherwise, you will not be able to disable the domain transfer lock. To disable private registration for multiple domains, proceed as follows:
Select the desired domains by checking the boxes to the left of the domain names.
Click Select Action.
Click Disable Private Registration.
Private registration will now be disabled for the selected domains.
