Domain Transfers

A Domain Transfer is performed when a domain is being moved from one registrar to another, a process also known as a Change of Provider.

Another type of domain transfer happens when a domain owner moves a domain from one contract to another within the same registrar, typically referred to as an internal domain transfer. For example, a 1&1 IONOS customer may want to move a domain from their Instant Domain contract to their MyWebsite contract or to a contract within a different 1&1 IONOS customer's account.

Please Note: When performing a domain transfer, you only move the domain itself, not any data associated with the domain, such as your website, subdomains, or email addresses. As a precaution, it is recommended that you back up any data prior to performing a transfer in case you need to re-upload it at the domain's new location.
