This article will show you how to check and disable the private registration for your domain in IONOS.
Private registration (WHOIS privacy) prevents your personal data such as your name, address and email address from being published in the WHOIS database. This setting protects the domain owner/registrant from receiving unwanted spam emails, for example.
If you are using private registration for your domain, you must disable it on IONOS's end before starting a domain transfer:
- In the Domains section, open the Privacy & Contact Details page.
- Select your domain.
- Disable the Private Registration option.
The private registration will now be disabled. This can take a few minutes.
Please note: If the private registration option is not displayed on the Privacy & Contact Details page, it is not available for this domain extension and therefore does not need to be disabled.
