This article explains how to reset a forgotten IONOS account password, or to set a new password for security purposes.

Notes

  • Other IONOS services: These instructions apply to the IONOS account. Information on logging in to other IONOS products can be found in the Help Center article "Logging into IONOS: How to sign in correctly". There you will find details on logging in to your IONOS account, Mail Basic or Mail Business, HiDrive, and the Data Center Designer (IONOS Cloud).

  • Confirmation code by email: If you have not activated two-factor authentication (2FA), in certain cases we will send you a 6-digit code to your contact email address when you log in for security reasons. Enter this code in the appropriate field during the login process to confirm access to your account. The code is valid for 20 minutes and is transmitted in encrypted form. If the code is no longer valid, you must start a new login attempt.

  • Phone PIN: If you have created a fixed phone PIN and reset the password of your IONOS account or set a new password, the fixed phone PIN will be deactivated. To continue using the fixed phone PIN, you must then create a new one. Alternatively, you can use the automatically generated temporary phone PIN for enquiries. This is displayed when you click on the speech bubble symbol in the top right-hand corner of your IONOS account.

Request a new password for the mobile number on file

  • Open the page https://password.ionos.com/.

  • Enter your IONOS customer number or one of your domains registered with IONOS and click Next.

  • You can now choose whether you want to receive an activation email or an activation code by SMS. With the activation code you can immediately log in to your IONOS account and create your new password.

Request new password if no mobile number has been entered

  • Open the page https://password.ionos.com/.

  • Enter your IONOS customer number or one of your domains registered with IONOS and click Next.

  • You will automatically receive an activation email after entering your customer number or domain name in the Password Centre.

  • Open the email and click on the link Create new password.

  • Follow the further instructions to create your new password.

Notes
  • For security reasons, the link in the email is only valid for 4 hours, but you can request this email again at any time.
  • If you do not receive the email, please check the spam folder in your mailbox.

Reset password for email account in IONOS account

If you have forgotten the password for an email address, you can assign a new password in your IONOS account. You can find out how to do this in the Help Center article "Changing an IONOS email account password".
