Cancelling an IONOS contract

In this article, we will show you how to cancel your contract via your IONOS account.

Details about the termination process
You can conveniently cancel your service online via your IONOS account. This also ensures that all necessary information, such as your contract and customer number, is included with the cancellation request.
- If you are a private customer, please note that you will only receive your IONOS invoices by email if you have given us your consent to send them electronically. We therefore recommend that you check before the cancellation date whether you have received all your invoices. If not, please remember to download your invoices from your IONOS account in good time.
- Before canceling your service, be sure to perform a complete data backup. For example, archive all your email correspondence, back up your website content via FTP, and also back up any existing databases. It's also recommended to create a list of all necessary email accounts, mailboxes, and any existing forwarding rules.
- For your security: If you have activated Domain Guard to protect your domains, the protection must be deactivated first before you can cancel the contract that includes Domain Guard or the add-on service.
- If there are no other contracts associated with your customer number, you will no longer have access to your IONOS account after the termination of the contract takes effect.
Cancellation through your IONOS account
To cancel a contract or additional features/services:
- Log in to your IONOS account.
- In the title bar, click Menu > My Account.
- Under Contracts and Subscriptions, click Display.
- In the Services column, click the name of the contract you want to cancel.
The contract details are displayed.

Click Cancel Contract.

In the Cancel this entire contract tile, click Select.

Select the reason for your cancellation and click Next.
Optional: Depending on the items included in your contract (domains or options), you may need to select specific cancellation details - such as cancellation date or cancellation type. In addition, the cancellation date is displayed. Click Next.
The Important Notes page for your cancellation is displayed. To continue the cancellation, click Cancel Contract Now.
A confirmation message will be displayed showing the cancellation date. You will also receive a cancellation confirmation email to the email address you have registered with IONOS .
