You can register a domain with IONOS for either 12 or 24 months. When you reach the end of your initial contract term, the domain is automatically extended by an additional year. This automatic extension option is activated by default for every domain.
If you register your domain for 24 months right from the start, you can take advantage of various money-saving special offers, depending on the TLD you selected. These offers are valid for orders placed on our website as well as for orders placed in IONOS.
By extending your domain before the end of the contract term, you can immediately lock in the current price for an additional 12 or 24 months and you will not have to deal with the formalities later. The new contract term will start after the old one has ended.
Example:
Four months before your term expires, you extend your domain by an additional two years. The contract term for your domain is therefore two years and four months.
Ordering a Domain as a IONOS Customer
