With Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), you can significantly improve the security of your IONOS account.
Access to your IONOS account is already protected by your username and password. Two-Factor Authentication adds another layer of security by requiring the correct username and password, as well as a unique 6-digit code. This 6-digit code is reset every 30 seconds and can only be viewed by you, using your smartphone.
In the unlikely event that someone gains knowledge of your username and password, they will still not be able to access your account if Two-Factor Authentication is enabled. Without the unique 6-digit code that is regenerated every 30 seconds on your smartphone, it's not possible to log in.
Easy to Use
With Two-Factor Authentication enabled, you will continue to log in using your username and password. After supplying your login information, you will be asked to enter the unique 6-digit 2FA code.
Open the FreeOTP app on your smartphone to see the current 6-digit code. There is a countdown timer to show you how much longer the code is valid. If there are only a few more seconds until the timer reaches zero, simply wait for the next unique code to be generated. Then enter the code into the text box on the login screen and complete your login.
Easy to Set Up
All you need for setup is:
Log in to IONOS and access the Two-Factor Authentication section in your account settings. During setup, you will be asked to open the 2FA app on your smartphone and use the smartphone camera to scan a QR code displayed on your computer screen. Then the setup is complete.
