How to display calendar weeks in Outlook

Numbering calendar weeks is normal within a business context, based on a 52-week year. The e-mail program Outlook also displays numbered calendar weeks if required. However, the corresponding function is deactivated in the default setting.

We will show you how to display calendar weeks in Outlook so that you have a better overview of the calendar year.

Display calendar week: Outlook desktop app

Proceed as follows to display the calendar week numbering in the Outlook desktop application.

Step 1: Open your e-mail program.

Step 2: Go to the “File” tab in the menu bar.

Step 3: Select “Options” in the right sidebar to open the Outlook options in a new window.

Step 4: Select the menu item “Calendar” in the right sidebar to call up the calendar settings of your e-mail program.

Step 5: Scroll down to the display options section.

Step 6: Check “Show week numbers in month view and date navigator.”

Step 7: Confirm the changes by clicking on “OK.”

The respective calendar week is displayed in the month view to the left of the Outlook calendar.

Display calendar week: Outlook on the web

To display week numbers in the Outlook on the web calendar, follow these steps.

Step 1: Open Outlook on the web in a web browser of your choice and open your calendar.

Step 2: Click the cog in the menu bar.

Step 3: Click on the menu item “Calendar appearance.”

Step 4: Check “Show week number in month view.”

Step 5: Save the change by clicking “OK.”

The monthly view of your calendar will now be displayed with the week numbering.

Note

Note that the numbering of the weeks of a calendar year is defined differently internationally: In the USA, the week of the calendar year is the first week in which January 1 falls. In the Outlook calendar settings, you can adjust the start of the first week in the “Working hours” section according to your individual wishes.
