If neither of the above solutions have worked for you, 0x8007000d might have been caused by a broken system file. Windows has a number of commands you can use for repairing these files on your own. First you’ll need to open the command prompt, which you can do as follows:

  1. Click on [Windows] and [R] to open “Run”.
  2. Enter “cmd” into the command line and then press [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [Enter] all at once.
  3. Confirm with “Yes”. Then keep working with admin privileges.
  4. Enter the following command:
sfc /scannow

  2. Wait until the command has been fully executed. Then restart your computer.
  3. Now use the DISM command (Deployment Image Servicing and Management). To do so, open the console and enter:

  1. Confirm with [Enter], and let the process run until it’s finished. Then restart your computer. You can now reinstall the update, and you shouldn’t have any problems with 0x8007000d.

How to reset update components

If that also doesn’t work, you’ll need to reset the update components to get rid of 0x8007000d once and for all. You can do so in a few steps:

  1. You’ll need admin privileges, so press [Windows] + [R], enter “cmd”, press [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [Enter] and then confirm with “Yes”.
  2. Enter the following four commands one after another and then confirm each of them with [Enter]:
net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptSvc
net stop bits
net stop msiserver

  1. Now rename two download folders with the following commands:
ren %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.bak
ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 catroot2.bak

  1. Now restart the services from above:
net start wuauserv
net start cryptSvc
net start bits
net start msiserver
